Divorce Mediation

Why choose divorce mediation?

Did you know that in parts of California over 95% of all divorces are settled through divorce mediation?

Divorce and separation can be one of the most stressful and saddening events in an individual's life. The issues that are most prevalent in one's mind revolve around finances and emotional needs. These are events that will deeply affect everyone in the family, so care must be taken to ensure the well being of everyone involved.

The goal of mediation is to reduce conflict and tension and, thus, enable the couple to negotiate their own settlement. Mediation is for the couple that wants to maintain control of their decisions. It is for those that do not want to put their lives in the hands of the courts. Divorce mediation is also for those that do not want to put their children in the middle of the conflict or mortgage their children's future.

Divorce mediation is not just for couples that know how to cooperate. The goal of our center is to show couples how to work together, despite the bad feelings that are often present during a divorce or separation.

How much does divorce mediation cost?

Did you know that just the retainers alone for two attorneys will be $10,000 dollars?

Divorce mediation is significantly less costly and faster than a traditional divorce, which goes through the courts. The reason for this is that you work together and don't use an intermediary as a means to communicate or negotiate.

The office offers modest fees, and the normal divorce mediation takes between five and twelve sessions to complete. Once mediation is complete, there will be memorandum of understanding that will be used to create your separation agreement. This will be done for an additional but modest fee.

What are the key points that need to be decided in divorce mediation?

Some of the important issues discussed in mediation will include the following:

  • Child support
  • Equitable distribution
  • Parenting arrangements

  • Spousal support
  • Means of resolving future conflicts
  • Tax implications
